Our first Christmas with a baby

I never thought Christmas could get better! It is so fun to have Kambree this year and see how excited she got to open all of her presents. She kept saying, "ooohhhh" with each one she opened. We had a great day celebrating. We visited Jake's parents on Christmas Eve and then had my family over on Christmas for breakfast and presents. We went to Grandma Eva's Christmas night.

She loves her new blocks.

Sequoia loved her present but it sure stinks!

Butterfield Christmas Party

Yesterday we went to my cousin Kim's house to have our yearly Butterfield Christmas party. It was a lot of fun and Santa and Mrs. Claus came at the end of the party. Kambree was first to sit on Santa's lap. I thought for sure she would be very intrigued by his outfit but she wasn't sure what to think about everything and had her classic little pouty face. Santa told her she had been a good girl this year and that he had something special for her.

All dressed up with her new red shoes!

Pat-a-Cake and giggles

Thought I would share some videos of our pride and joy! We love this little girl. I can't believe how life could still be fun without her in it.

I swear I use to do math better.

A few months ago I was watching the news in the morning and they had a lady that was from Boxing is for Girls. They asked her what everyone should do as part of their fitness routine. She said if you are busy just try to fit in 10 minutes of 10 squats, 10 push ups and 10 crunches. It's even more fun if you have a partner that you are trying to beat. Well Jake and I started to do this along with our friends Matt and Sarah. Sarah nick named it the 10 minutes of torture. Well tonight I decided to do it and instead of just doing 10 of each before switching I decided to do 1 thing at a time for the normal amount I usually accomplish. I usually get 8-9 reps but always multiply it by 3 since there are 3 things to do which gives me a total of 24 or 27 total reps of 10. Well tonight I don't know what I was thinking. I figured since I normally get 24 I should multiply that by 10. I did fine doing 240 squats but pretty much was dying on the pushups and crunches. When I told Jake what I was doing he explained how off I was on my math. So far I feel really good but we will see how I feel tomorrow. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. Basically I did 160 more crunches, 160 more pushups and 160 more squats than I should have. O well, it felt great to accomplish it. Now I guess I have to keep it up.

Packin' on some extra protein

Kambree started crawling a few weeks ago. She is so excited about it and loves to explore everything. The other day I was making breakfast and I didn't hear any noise. Usually no noise means she is into something. Sure enough there she was putting as much dog food as she could into her mouth. YUCK! We always try to keep it up, but this time I forgot. I think she liked it because anytime she sees it on the ground she heads off trying to beat us to it. My mom wanted me to record her crawling, she has this cute thing she does with her leg every now and then to help her push off. We call it her gimp leg.

Randomness from the weekend

We had a great weekend. We had (Pre-Thanksgiving) dinner with Jake's family. Mike and Sue came down on Friday and then Jake's parents came down on Saturday. The dinner was good, even Jake's Sweet Potato Pie that called for 2 Tablespoons of Orange Juice and he put in 2 cups. It was the joke of the night. I think we all gained some weight from all the food we ate. Mike and Sue are amazing though, they have been doing the biggest loser with some people in their neighborhood. They are currently in first and second place with 2 weeks left to go. Good luck you guys, and great job on all that you have already lost.

Kambree in her big snow suit coat, at least she was warm.

St. George Trip

This last weekend we went to St. George for a quick getaway! One of the doctors Jake works with offered to let us stay at his condo. It was a lot of fun and pretty warm. We had a great time. I loved sitting in the hot tub everyday and enjoying relaxing. We went to the St. George temple. I had never been. It was such a beautiful temple. Jake said that it is made of sandstone but they paint it white. We also went to Zion National Park. This is our favorite park in Utah to visit. It is gorgeous and was pretty even though it was pretty cold that day. We were bummed to only get to do one hike but Kambree was freezing and needed to warm up. On Saturday we spent half our time at Best Buy and the other half at Red Robin watching the Utah/TCU game. Unfortunately it was a big loss for Utah. On the way home we got a flat tire and ended up spending $650 on 4 new tires. I was super bummed but have now got over it and realized it was just money and am just grateful to have everyone home safe. Thanks Dr. Nielson for a wonderful time. :)

A Favorite Memory

On Halloween my Grandpa Major fell and broke 3 ribs. He has been in a lot of pain and just sleeping with pain pills most of the time. I asked my grandma if she was lonely and she replied, "I don't have time to be lonely Julie." So I told her she probably would like some company or someone to talk to. She replied with "Nobody ever pampers me." Well she definitely said the wrong thing because I decided to give her a night of pampering. I made her minestrone soup, a salad, rolls and of course dessert. We went up to Salt Lake and had dinner with them and my dad. She kept trying to serve us our dinner like she always does and I made her sit the whole time. It was so fun watching her get spoiled. Afterwards I told her she was going to get a pedicure done. She replied with, "Oh no I'm not, I haven't had a pedicure in 88 years and I'm not getting one now." I told her she was and just to enjoy it. She had to go to the store first so I gave my grandpa one first. He loved it and kept saying how much I was spoiling him and when I rubbed his head he said he would have to send a taxi to my house weekly so he could have this done more often. When my grandma got back she put her feet in to soak and seemed to enjoy the head and foot massage a lot. Then I pulled out the toe nail polish and she had the biggest fit. "That is so dumb to put paint on your nails. What a waste of money." The whole time she was laughing and shaking her head. "Nobody is going to believe I let you do this." I couldn't believe she picked the brightest color out of the bunch. Hot Pink! They looked so cute and all she could say was how "Stupid" they looked. When we were leaving she told me thank you and Jake said when I hugged her she started to cry. He said she looked so happy. It was a wonderful night and one of my favorite memories. I love all of my grandparents so much but definitely have a soft spot for this stubborn German Grandma named Eva. Unfortunately I left my camera at home but she said she would have never let me take a picture to show the evidence. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for being such good sports. We love you.

Who knew.....

Who Knew that the zoo could be so fun! I remember going to the zoo when I was a little girl and loving it but also getting so tired from walking up the big hills and how hot it was. Well it was much different this time. The hills didn't seem so big, we went the first of November and it was so nice and cool and of course I had great company with Jake and a little girl who loved every second of it. We had numerous people laughing at how she kept squealing every time she saw a new animal.

Cutest baby giraffe.

Most of the animals had Jack-o-lanterns to eat.

Isn't she adorable? Cute little baby Zuri.

Mom getting food, it was neat to watch her
shake all the hay down and then scoop it up.
Kambree getting acquainted with the turkeys.
Grandpa Turkey would be so proud.

Megan and Richie with their little monkey.
Denae and Andrew: Love the mullet Andrew!
Heather and Patrick: Scuba divers that found their Little Nemo.

Our family of Bees, of course Jake was the beekeeper of us all! Jake carved the pumpkin the night before. Pretty impressive. I had to add the picture of Kambree with her cute beanie on that Richie made for her. Megan you have a pretty talented husband! I could have never figured out how to make such a cute hat. Thank you to all of you that were able to come even if we didn't get your picture :( It was great to see you and be able to celebrate with you.

A week of no sleep!

So last weekend we went to Spring City with our friends Richie and Megan. Kambree had a really hard time going down for naps and we thought it was probably because she was excited about the new place and wanted to see everything. When we got home we noticed she was getting her top teeth and still wouldn't go down for her naps without a big fight. I spent the whole week trying to get her to sleep until finally on Friday we let her cry it out. It took her 45 minutes of crying but she finally fell asleep and seemed super rested in the morning. :) We even got to sleep an extra hour this morning. What a great thing to have Tough Love.

We went to the park by Timpanogas Temple
to take some pictures. Too bad some are blurry. :(
I told Jake we need another camera, AGAIN.

I love this face, she is so happy!

Sequoia is exhausted after chasing her ball
for about an hour.
