Busy month but lots of fun!

Well we have been in our new house now for a little over a month! I think we are mostly settled in except for needing to organize the basement stuff. We have been really busy this month but have been having a blast!

Kambree had her first dance recital. It was so cute to watch her and she really loved her teacher.

We also had Mike and Sue's family for a weekend. It was Anson's first birthday so we had a little party for him. Mike and Sue also bought the pass of all passes so the kids had a blast spending most the weekend at Trafalga. Kambree loves her cousins so much! She was so sad when they had to go.

This little guy is already walking all over the place! We have tried to get Asher to start practicing his walking skills but he isn't too interested in that yet. :)

All the kids!

Lovin on my little chunker boy. Today he at a whole piece of bread without it even being broke into little pieces. He had it gone within minutes. And then wanted more. Jake and I like to joke about how broke we will be when he is a teenager from buying so much food. Hopefully it's only a joke. :)

Anson loved his cupcake and had to have another one.

We also went to St. George this month for Jake's first Olympic Tri. It was his first time swimming in open water so he didn't realize that he gets motion sickness from the waves. The poor guy was so sick during the swim. He did great on the bike and run though. He did such a great job and Kambree and I had fun watching him. Kambree also had fun hanging out by the water and sand while we waited for him.

Lastly I just had to include this video: His laugh is so contagious!

April

April was such a fun month! We had a great Easter this year. It was actually fun doing eggs this year compared to last year when Kambree just wanted to break all the eggs and eat them all. On Easter morning we were excited to have Kambree find her easter basket. She was in a really grumpy mood though and kept crying over the fact that she couldn't find her basket. I suggested that she open the armoire so we could watch a show and take a break. She was still crying while opening it and changed from throwing a fit to cheering! It was pretty funny. I wish I would have video taped it. I am realizing that 3 year olds have a much bigger temper than 2 year olds. :)

The Easter Bunny brought her a music box and some jewelry.

Jake's favorite egg that he made.

Asher got lots of food and a bath toy!

We took the kids to the temple on Easter Day and took some pictures. Kambree loved looking at all the pretty flowers, and wrestling with Asher.

We also closed on our new house this month! Even though it is just a few houses away from our last one it was still quite a bit of work and I was sore for days. We are loving the extra room, the basement for preschool, and the park right across the street from us. Sequoia was really down the first couple of days that we moved in and wondered what was going on. She now loves the new place and knows it is her new home. Kambree loves her HUGE bedroom upstairs and Asher loves climbing all the stairs. So far no falls!

Jake's 33rd birthday was this month. Kambree really wanted to make him a pig birthday cake for his birthday. So that's what we did. She also picked out a frog head lamp to give him for his birthday. It was a great laugh.

 Lots and lots of candles.

Finally, one of my favorite memories from the month was running with Kambree in her first race. We did a 5k at UVU called Color me Rad. They had lots of different color stations where they sprayed you down. We also had colored powder to throw at each other. Kambree ran about 2.5 miles which was AMAZING! We finished in 55 minutes. And she loved every second of it. When we were done she said she wanted to do it again. :) That girl has so much energy! This was one of my favorite races. We will definitely be doing it next year.

At the very end throwing up all of our colors.

Before race: Our Team SWOOB and Kambree loved streching.

Bernard Major

I remember when I was pregnant with Kambree I would pray all the time that my grandparents would still be alive to hold my first baby. I was so lucky to be able to have that  wish come true. My grandpa was an amazing man. I think that my favorite thing about him was that he would always hug me really tight and tell me that I was a very special granddaughter and that he loved me so much. I know he said this to every single one of his grandkids. But when he said it to me I felt like nobody else mattered to him as much as I did. Grandpa always loved seeing his grandkids and always had a smile on his face. He was definitely a big time worry wart. Just like myself. Every time my family tells me that I worry too much, I just tell them that I got it from Grandpa Major.

My grandpa hadn't been doing well the last couple months. He was diagnosed with Dementia and was having terrible headaches due to the lack of oxygen he had. He always worried where my grandma was and would even check on her when she was sleeping to make sure she was still alive. Grandma always would tell me how hard it was on her to be woke up all the time. But I sort of thought it was cute how much he cared about her. He was in a rehabilitation center for a couple weeks and I went for a visit. I couldn't get over how in love my grandpa was with grandma. He kept asking her how she was doing and would scoot as close to her as he could.

The night before he died I went to see him. Grandma wouldn't leave his side and just kept rubbing his head. I told her how hard it was for me to have to let him go and she looked at me and told me I had to tell him that it was time to go and that he could go. She told me to tell him to go see my mom. I think that was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I had never told someone I loved so much that they could die. I didn't want him to die. I wanted to be selfish and tell him to stay and fight and live for me. But in the end I knew that wasn't right so I told him he could leave this earth and asked him to give my mom a hug and tell her how much I miss and love her. My cousin's husband sent me a photo of his last night. He said Grandma was with him like this the entire night. Even after he had passed away she still stayed by his side and continued to rub his head.

I will miss him more than I can explain in words. My favorite memories of grandpa are:

Having him in my life so much as a father figure. I basically lived with him for 2 years while my mom was sick in the hospital. I remember grandpa reading books to me every night and tucking me into bed.

I will miss doing his hair. He never had much hair but he would let me comb it with water and rub lotion on his head.

I will miss his hugs most of all and his loving words.

I remember after having Kambree how he kept telling me what a beautiful baby boy I had. My grandma quickly told him that she was a girl! :) He said, "Well either way he is beautiful!"

He was such a wonderful grandpa and I feel extremely grateful to have had him in my life for so long. He made such a huge impact to me and through him I was able to see what true love really is.

I love you Grandpa and can't wait for the day that I can see you again!

Stubborn like my Grandma Major

I just adore this lady!

This is my Grandma Major. My dad's mom. She is such a hard worker, makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches, loves the show Survivor, adores her grandchildren and is also super stubborn. We always say that it is the German in her.

I am told by Jake often, how much I am like her and I finally realized it this weekend. I have been sick now for about 12 days. Everything started out as a cold and then on Thursday night last week I started getting a fever and just feeling miserable. Friday was busy because we had family pictures, hair appointments, and piano festivals to judge and play for. I had a fever all day and was asking for tissues while getting pictures to wipe down my face that was dripping sweat. Jake kept asking me if I needed to go to the doctor but I told him I was fine and just had a sinus infection. I get them often and I was hoping this one would go away on its own.

Friday night we went to bed early because Jake and I had signed up for a half marathon that would be the next morning. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it but I really felt I had to. It was Jake's first half and he has been wanting to do one ever since I did my first half 2 years ago. At the time I was pregnant with Asher, but I made him promise that he wouldn't run his first half without me. I didn't feel I could ever be happy with myself if I didn't live up to that promise and would be very upset that he got to do the race and I didn't.

I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to do it because 7 hours before race time I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever or 104. I was a little crazy telling Jake I didn't think I could go but was going to try. And sure enough that's what I did. I woke early. Ate my normal racing day food, drank an Extra Strength 5 hour energy that I picked up the day before to help me do it, and took off. It was a harder course with 4 big hills. I ran or I would say more "jogged" 11.5 of the 13.2 miles. It felt so good to be doing it! It felt so good to be outdoors and not sitting in bed coughing. Jake came back after he finished and ran the last mile with me. I started crying at the end because I was so happy I did it! And then I crashed to the ground exhausted and had a coughing attack. The man in charge of the event was concerned that I needed to get up and keep walking but all I wanted to do was go to sleep.

Later that day the fever went up again to 103 so I decided to go take care of the "sinus infection". Well an hour later after having some chest x rays I found out I have pneumonia on both sides of my lungs. I Thought the doctor would be mad that I ran but he was just excited to ask me all about it. How I felt while running? How I did? And to tell me how proud he was me. I just had to laugh.

My grandma called me later that night and I told her what I had done while being sick. She said, "Well I guess you did what you wanted to and put your mind to it. And there's nothing wrong with that!" I just love her so much! And feel lucky to have some of her stubbornness :)

After the race with my sweetie!

Also, Here are some of our family pictures. I love how they turned out. Kambree loved the real bunny she got to hold and can't stop talking about him.
